Thoughts From The Passing of a Sister in Christ

  • Published in Blog

Just last week we had a funeral for a sister in our church. She had cancer and Christ won. More on this later. During the last several weeks I was privileged to spend some very intimate times with her and her family. One of which was a prayer meeting she wanted to have in the hospital. Around 50 people piled into the ICU room and I was asked to preach a short sermon and lead the prayer time.

Can God Bring Any Good Out of Bad?

  • Published in Blog

I thought I would share a few thoughts about pain and going through hard times.  The Christian life has suffering and pain in it.  That's just the facts.  A matter of fact, life in general has problems for sinners and saints in this world. Yet, for the Christian there can actually be eternal good come out of it.  I'm going to write a few thoughts about one of the most horrific, seemingly nonredeemable, event in history- the fall of man.  I imagine if God can bring some good out of that, he can bring good out of any trail, temptation, or pain we might go through.  We might not understand it immediatly, but in the end we will understand.

Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

You might think that nothing good could have possibly came from the fall but I think different.  I'm not saying that the fall in itself is good, but I'm saying God made good things come out of it.  I believe there are actually aspects of God that were revealed through the fall that Adam and Eve may not have understood like we do.  I'm not saying God couldn't have revealed these things to them somehow without the fall but nevertheless through the fall these things were revealed.

Holy Wrath

One word in the Greek that is translated wrath is orgē which is pronounced or- gay'. Aristotle said this word means desire with grief. I believe there should be a holy wrath that is stirred up in each Christian as what we call Today passes by. It shouldn't take much to look around and be stirred up by the sinfulness of Christians and the world. We should have a holy wrath or a strong desire with grief building up. Do you have such a desire for Christ that it stirs up grief when you don't see God getting the glory He deserves? We as Christians should have such a strong desire to see Christ glorified. Do we not have the Holy Spirit in us?

All for our glory

All for our glory

The church is very confused today.  We have the mindset that men are good and God is mean and bad.  This is not so, the opposite is true.  Men are sinners, God is just and good.  We have degraded the Gospel to nothing more than to make us a little better so we can go to heaven... or so we think.  Today many church people sweep sin under the rug and say "Oh maybe God will clean it up on Sunday."  We have no horror of sin!  A matter a fact sin is our entertainment.  Most enjoy watching what the Bible condemns as sin.
