Making Disciples of Christ in Ecuador

Difficulties and Joys: Part 1

  • Published in Blog

2 years is quite a bit of time to prepare for something.  That's how long we've been with SIM as missionary appointees.  That's a long time.  We've seen several who started with us and have already been on the field for many months now.  Discouragement crouches at the door continually.  And really, I can say that the desire to be a missionary in Latin America has been warming inside of me for closer to 6 years or so.  During these last 2 years we've had a lot of ups and downs.  One thing is for sure and that's that God has been teaching us and molding us.  We are still pushing toward the calling we feel like God has given us.  Being in southern Ecuador with the 1% of the population who are evangelical is still our goal.  In these next two blog posts I want to share some of those feelings and experiences I've had, both negative and positive.  I'll start with the negative and end on the positive ones in the next post.  They aren't listed in any particular order.

Preparing for our trip: A flood of feelings

As many of you might have heard, we are going to Ecuador for a 2-week trip. The purpose of this trip is to prepare us for moving there. We will get to know personally the team we will be working with and different towns and cities where we may be working. You can call it a vision or a survey trip. If you haven’t seen our latest newsletter, here is the link. It will give an update as to what we have been doing the last couple months.
