Thoughts on dating

A few thought I had on dating back in '05.  I haven't changed much on this other sometimes you have to watch the level of intimacy in conversation too.  Being too intimate can bring up too many feelings too soon.  Some things are only for married couples to discuss.  - Josh

This is mainly for all of the singles out there.

Here is a thought the Lord gave me: A woman is not a trophy, you do more than just look at her. You have to live with her.

There is some wisdom. (It could also go for guys too)   I've seen people get so wrapped in dating that it will carry them from one church to another and then eventually when the relationship is over the person either leaves the church and doesn't find another one or stops going, all because of the uncomfortablness.

All for our glory

All for our glory

The church is very confused today.  We have the mindset that men are good and God is mean and bad.  This is not so, the opposite is true.  Men are sinners, God is just and good.  We have degraded the Gospel to nothing more than to make us a little better so we can go to heaven... or so we think.  Today many church people sweep sin under the rug and say "Oh maybe God will clean it up on Sunday."  We have no horror of sin!  A matter a fact sin is our entertainment.  Most enjoy watching what the Bible condemns as sin.

Holy Wrath

Holy Wrath

One word in the Greek that is translated wrath is orgē which is pronounced or- gay'. Aristotle said this word means desire with grief. I believe there should be a holy wrath that is stirred up in each Christian as what we call Today passes by. It shouldn't take much to look around and be stirred up by the sinfulness of Christians and the world. We should have a holy wrath or a strong desire with grief building up. Do you have such a desire for Christ that it stirs up grief when you don't see God getting the glory He deserves? We as Christians should have such a strong desire to see Christ glorified. Do we not have the Holy Spirit in us?

Where There is Smoke There is Fire

Here are a few thoughts I had on my heart one day.  It's not really an article but just a few thoughts that appeared to be burning in my heart on this particular day. - Josh

Where this is smoke, there is fire!  - Unknown (At least I don't know who)

Num 3:4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father.

Exo 30:7-9 And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.  Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.

Living Dead Man

Here is another old article.  I'm not sure I would spell things out exactly like this today, but I think there is some good things here.  - Josh

Living Dead Man

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

There is nothing more glorious than a man crucified with Christ.  It took the love of the Father, the obedience of the Son, and the drawing of the Holy Ghost to be saved.  Then after that, it took the man's obedience to follow completely after Christ.  "To be part of the bride you must be divorced from the world!"- Leonard Ravenhill  Most people try to stretch themselves in ways they are not meant to be stretched.  They try to draw near to God and do everything the world is doing.  You cannot do this.  You are either of the world or merely  in  the world, but of God.  What I mean by "of the world" is you do the things of the world and are accepted by them because your life does not oppose that evil which they do.

Sin is Self-Love

I'm going to start posting some articles that I wrote a long time ago.  Here is the first of several.  - Josh

Sin is Self Love

Sin is something that many are wrapped in.  Many enjoy the pleasures of sin.  Let it be noted that it is only for a short time that this pleasure will last, but Hell will last an eternity.  Sin may feel good for a moment, but even looking at the lifespan of a person, we can see how sin has deteriorated the body, mind, and spirit.  How many old drunks do you know that have a sound mind?  How many do you know have a body that is in shape?  Do not most look much older than they really are?  Sin will destroy your spirit, soul, and body. It will destroy you not only in this life.  It will start out only as a temptation but after you fall into it, it will turn to lust, lust turns to sin, and sin brings death. (See James 1:15)

Can God Bring Any Good Out of Bad?

I thought I would share a few thoughts about pain and going through hard times.  The Christian life has suffering and pain in it.  That's just the facts.  A matter of fact, life in general has problems for sinners and saints in this world. Yet, for the Christian there can actually be eternal good come out of it.  I'm going to write a few thoughts about one of the most horrific, seemingly nonredeemable, event in history- the fall of man.  I imagine if God can bring some good out of that, he can bring good out of any trail, temptation, or pain we might go through.  We might not understand it immediatly, but in the end we will understand.

Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

You might think that nothing good could have possibly came from the fall but I think different.  I'm not saying that the fall in itself is good, but I'm saying God made good things come out of it.  I believe there are actually aspects of God that were revealed through the fall that Adam and Eve may not have understood like we do.  I'm not saying God couldn't have revealed these things to them somehow without the fall but nevertheless through the fall these things were revealed.

The Unthinkable Made Known: A Reason for Thanksgiving

Jesus once said about a group of people “they know not what they worship” (John 4:22).  I think this statement holds true for many people.  So many don't really know the god, or even much about him, that they claim to worship.  If a person doesn't know the god they are worshiping, how can they know what pleases him?  Even greater than that, what is this god like?  What is he not like?  Can you even know him?  These are questions that every worshiping person should ask.  If these questions have no answers in the soul of the worshiper then worship will be completely arbitrary to the worshiper.  At best, their worship will be unpleasing to their god.  At worst, their god doesn't exist and it's all just a figment of their imagination.
