Making Disciples of Christ in Ecuador

Aiming For The Unknown

Romans 15:20–21 (NKJV)

 And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation,  but as it is written:

“To whom He was not announced, they shall see;

And those who have not heard shall understand.”

From time to time you will hear people talk about purpose  or mission statement.  They can be useful but not always reflective of the individual's life.  Most people (probably even myself) if they were asked to make a mission statement for their life would just grab 1 of 20 stock answers that any good church person could come up with.  Paul was different.  I don't know if any point that Paul sat down and wrote his aim in life and then latter put his time and energy into it.  What we do know is that when Christ saved him he told Paul there were many things he would suffer for Christ's sake and that he would also bear His name to both Jews and Greeks.  (Acts 9:15)  Rather than sit down and think of something good to do, Paul received  a calling from the Lord and then embraced it with all his strength.  Surely, that is the place we want to be.
